Recovery Day

Monday was recovery day. Sunburned and sore, we slept late and took our time packing up to go back to Cuzco. Around lunch time we went down to Aguas Caliente (named after the Hot Water spring nearby) which is the town in the valley below Machu Picchu and where the train station is. It only has about 2,000 residents but probably as many tourists at any given time (an average of about 2,000 people visit Machu Picchu every day). Mostly it is a place to buy carved trinkets and Apaca wool clothing.

Then we caught the train back to Cuzco and back to the Hotel Monasterio. We thought we had the best room before, but apparently not because this time we got the Royal Suite and it was even better than before!
